We’re now into early January, which means that Gallifrey One in 35 Millimetre is just around the corner.  News updates will be coming weekly from now through the convention, so make sure to keep checking back here on our website, or our social media accounts, for all the latest updates!

Merchandise Pre-Sales Close January 15; Tickets Still Available

This is a reminder that pre-sales for Gallifrey One’s 2025 convention T-shirt and tote bag will close at 5:00pm Pacific time on Wednesday January 15.  You can pre-order your items on our Registration Page, either during ticket purchase or separately, through that date.  Con merchandise can be picked up at the Gallifrey One table at the back of our Dealers Room, where we will also have a limited number of additional shirts & bags for sale (in case you miss the pre-order window!)

Ticket sales for the convention will remain open online through Tuesday February 11 at noon Pacific time, then will reopen on Friday morning, February 14 at the convention.  Like the past two years, we do not expect to sell out this year’s event… though it’s a good idea to get your tickets early if you plan to attend, as we can’t guarantee we won’t sell out.  Also, pre-ordering gets you early badge pickup on Thursday February 13 and entry into our special convention launch party that evening at 8pm!

Script Readings & More Optional Add-On Events

The first of our optional add-on events, the exclusive script readings with Catherine Tate and Jenna Coleman, both go on sale this Wednesday, January 8 at 10:00am Pacific time at the Convention Photo Shoots website.  These private script readings are exclusive events hosted by their sponsors, Showmasters Events, and are very popular.  Catherine Tate’s script event will take place on Saturday from 10am to 11am; Jenna Coleman’s will take place on Sunday from 10am to 11am.  Both of these take place in the Program B room and you must have a ticket to enter.  (These events are separate from their main stage interviews each day they are in attendance; the main stage program is open to everyone at the convention.)

Tickets for the Evening Guest Receptions on Friday & Saturday evenings, as well as other script readings with select guests, will be available later this month on that website; we’ll give advance notice for each on our social media accounts as well as here on our website.

Meanwhile, photo op pre-orders with select guests are currently available, and more will be added in the weeks to come.

Gallifrey One 2025 Program Updates

We are currently hard at work preparing the program for this year’s convention, which will feature a blend of guest interviews and events, along with discussion panels, presentations (both science themed as well as on specific topics), and much more… everything you expect from past years, with a few surprises as well.  Although we aren’t ready to release specific details just yet – and the program itself won’t be out until later in January – we’d like to share some updates pertaining to this year’s event.

Thursday Night: As always, Gallifrey One will open with our convention launch party, An Affair to Remember, Thursday evening at 8:00pm, for anyone on site (badge pickup for those who pre-order tickets begins in the early afternoon that day.)  The party will once again be followed by the first of three karaoke nights; you must have your badge for both events.

Programming on Friday Morning: This year, our main stage program begins at 10:00am, instead of the usual 11am start time (we have so many guests to bring you!)  The usual opening event, our Radio Free Skaro live show, will still take place at 11am in that room.  Discussion panel programming will start at 10am as usual, and our video program at 9am.

TARDIS Talks: This year’s academic session, TARDIS Talks, will take place on Friday afternoon instead of Saturday.  We have a terrific 90-minute program for you this year, with details to be announced soon.

Evening Fun: Gallifrey One’s annual dance party is moving to Friday evening this year… for a very good reason (Friday is Valentine’s Day, after all!)  The dance will begin around 9:30pm, and is preceded by a showing of the new film inDoctornated, making its West Coast debut right after the end of our daytime programming session, followed by our annual Masquerade of Mandragora costume fashion show at 8:00pm Friday evening in the main auditorium.  Saturday night’s presentation will be the annual comedy stage show, The Idiot’s Lantern, followed by a special showing of the new Doctor Who: The War Games in Colour.

Kaffeeklatsches: This year, as always, will be filled with wonderful kaffeeklatsch sessions: small groups of up to 12 attendees along with one or two guests, sitting around a table chatting about the guests’ work.  Kaffeeklatsch online signups will be on Saturday February 1 at noon Pacific time.  We’ll have further details for you at a later date.

Discussion Panels: For those of you who signed up to participate as panelists, we’ll be letting you know within the next two weeks.  We do want to mention that we have to cut a larger number of panels from our program than we usually do, because we have so much programming to offer (and so many guests joining us this year!) but it’ll still be a robust program track.  Thank you to everyone who signed up; we’ll be in touch.

Charity Beneficiary Coming Soon: We’re just a few days away from announcing this year’s beneficiary for our charity auction, the Bob May Memorial Charity Auction taking place on Sunday February 16 at noon.  We’d like to thank everyone for their patience, and encourage everyone to bring items to the convention to be auctioned off for charity.  (We’ll have full details in a separate news release later this week!)

A Few New Guests Still On The Way: Lastly, we want to let everyone know that our guest list is mostly finished, but not completely… we still have a few guests waiting in the wings, to be announced in the next week or so (guest stars and technical folks related to Doctor Who).  This is why our program is being assembled a bit later than we usually do it, but rest assured, it’ll be worth the wait!

Early Notice: 2026 & 2027 Date Changes

Finally, we wanted to give everyone some advance warning about our convention dates for the next two years (we know many of you like to plan things well ahead of time!)

Los Angeles is hosting three major sporting events over the next three years: the NBA All Star Game at the Intuit Dome in 2026, the Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium in 2027, and the Olympics in 2028.  The first two, unfortunately, will both take on the Presidents’ Day holiday weekend during those years.  Nearly every major hotel is booked solid during those weekends — to house players, staff, management, press and more — and that includes the Marriott LAX.  So, we have to shift to a different weekend entirely.

Gallifrey One’s 2026 convention will therefore take place one week earlier than usual, on February 6-8, 2026 at the Marriott LAX.  We are currently working on our contract that includes 2027, so we won’t have a specific date for that year for quite some time, but we expect it to be within one to three weeks after Presidents’ Day weekend that year.

We have some stuff to talk about regarding these events and other important things about our convention, so we encourage everyone to join us for Closing Ceremonies this year on Sunday evening at 5pm in Program A.  (And yes, for those who aren’t present, it’ll all be on our website soon thereafter.)

More news soon!
